In Canton, Michigan, you will find one of the fastest growing communities in all of Wayne County.
We have a keen sense of where we came from and a clear vision of where we are headed. Our community offers a unique blend of rural and suburban character, traditional and modern values, and historical and futuristic perspectives.
Although established more than 162 years ago, there is a young feel to our community. The average age of our population, for example, is only 30 years; and yet we have family homesteads dating back to the 1840's and historic schoolhouses dating from the 1870's.
With a population growth of more than 420 percent since 1970, Canton now stands at well over 65,000 people, but more than 35 percent of our 36 square miles remains undeveloped, rural open space.
The population growth we have seen is expected to continue through to 2000 as more and more people discover what Canton has to offer both newcomers and longtime residents.
Canton's beautiful new community center (Summit on the Park-pictured above), the Downtown Development Authority "Streetscape" and the Pheasant Run golf/residential community, all offer a taste of the future in our community.
